Yeah, the Namlook-type chanting and soft repeated statements (as with Dr. Atmo) are cool. But this LECTURE -- when it came on just now, the first thing I thought was OH NO! THIS is still HERE!

Old librarians is right.

...switching channels, I cannot STAND to be lectured when I'm chilling...I don't care what the subject matter is...

This track would have been good if the kid narrating didn't have a horrible speech impediment.

"Lucid dweaming is a vewy intewesting concept. No, I don't sound like a wetawd!"

I thought the British accent might overcome this shortcoming, but alas it did not. I made it to track 4 before turning it off.

It would have been really good too.

Gotta disagree with the last few posts here... I didn't hear the beginning (just caught it towards the end) but the part I did hear was brilliant. My first time listening to Ambient and I do believe that the lecturing (if you could call it that) was an integral part that only added to the brilliance. The things that were said were excellent and really peaked my interest :-) Time to go do some research!

Absolutely, indescribably incredible... as always... *starts lucidly daydreaming*

I swear every time I listen to it I hear bits I never heard before, and it sounds even better than the last time. This is maybe my 4th listening on the ambient channel now. I wish I could know when it'll come on next so I can get ready to catch it from the beginning.

please *DO* try this at home. controlling life through dreams... or dreams through life.

at first i thought this was going to be "existential fluff" but, after listening to the first half, i realized it was serious scientific research into altered states - dreams. probably won't win the nobel prize but her material makes more sense than i expected.

i'm actually going to try "lucid" dream enhancement sometime.

thanks for the new and very different audio experience.

DI.FM is the absolutely finest station i have ever tried.

I have read a lot of Celia Green's works, and have just recently found these recordings. Brilliant. This will certainly help in working up the meditation phase for astral projection.

Cheers and happy lucid dreaming.

This track embodies a range of things, some good some bad.

In general I hate voices in ambient music. They demand that part of your brain turn on and start to listen and make sense. That isn't what ambient music is about. This track is different in that the narrative is in many ways the core. As noted in an earlier post, a significant failing is the voice of the technical narrator - who has an annoying and distracting speech impediment or accent. This is on a par with a musical track with a mistuned instrument. But on the whole the mixture of alternative ideas, mostly well voiced narration and well chosen sounds is very good.

The problem with any narrated track is that it ages fast. Unlike music, a narrative is very boring to listen to repetitively. It is like reading the same story, or watching the same film over and over again. What was, on first listen, something amazing, becomes a curiosity on the third, and positively annoying on about the fifth listen. So having this track on high rotation on an internet radio station really doesn't work. Maybe once a month or so would be OK, but the few times a week that it seems to currently enjoy - especially for such a very long track - is just too much.

More info on this release can be found here on discogs
including mention of some for sale by previous owners...I think the label went out of business recently, but copies of this *can* be found. Good luck.

Brilliant start, thought provoking, yet it contains that drifting vibe.
First time hearing such voices in ambient, and loving every line.
Lucid indeed, I'll be hearing this mix out to the end.

Amazing.
Most interesting mix I have ever heard on di, after being a listener so long before I joined these forums.
Despite the steep price, I will buy the CD.
Thanks Cardamar,
