I think the depth of the violin vibratos at [1.39] are very unnatural. Lighten 'em up. Or if there isn't some sorta setting for getting it detailed, layer one version with and one without vibrato (that should fix it since it sounds like it's the kind of vibrato that affects amplitude only).

something with pads in the background, a thick droning bass, plucky lead, and a cool drum beat. It's coming along nicely.

And then something more stripped down.

And then an ambient track...

I sort of work on whichever one feels best at the time.

it would be cool if the end of the breakdown was an upsweeping HPF so less and less bass/mids comes through, then a killer sub kicks in when you drop it all back for the next section...

Default A track I've been working on.

Hi DI

I've got a trance track I've been working on here http://soundcloud.com/digidoh/e-01 and would like peoples feedback on it.

I havent finished with it yet, still needs a bit more percussion and FX, and to change a couple sounds, especially that bell sound, sometimes it sounds like someone whistling lol. But overall I'm happy with it at the moment.

(I'll be submitting something else for the contest btw)

Sounds good. I'd recommend fixing that bell sound too. It sounds a bit overwhelming in certain places and i noticed it on my tiny laptop speakers. Won't comment on anything else in terms of sound quality. Need better speakers for that
First breakdown is attempting to be epic but the beginning lead just cuts out with a crash before the buildup lead starts. I thought it's a little abrupt. Melody sounds a bit plain, but great for a first try. It's starting to get a little boring towards the end, though. Could try bringing new elements in. Maybe inserts some breaks when the track intensifies. Effects? Really, just anything to make it sound like the track is changing or evolving. Also, the end almost seemed like it was about to go into the main melody again. I think this would have been okay, if the the track wasn't so repetitious up to the breakdown.
Either way, a really good attempt. You definitely got the basics down. Just need to work with imagination

Thanks Serg

Yeah I realise its very basic and straightforward (hence the 'nothing fancy' in the description), I guess I'm just keeping it nice and easy for my own sake lol, and not over-complicating things making it difficult or overwhelming, ultimately leading to be discouraged, I know that everything will come in time. I just wanted to get one track "finished" to hopefully get the ball rolling, I have a folder full of bits and bobs that never go anywhere lol.

But its definitely something I'm going to work on, and all your comments have been taken on board, thanks again

Here is something i threw together today. A 'rough draft'. Some aren't mastered and sound out of whack, but it's an interesting sound to me. I haven't approach any track in a minimalistic way before.

I'm not really too experienced in minimal to give you some real specific feedback, but I will say I definitely like it. It's got a real nice groove to it, very crisp and clear also. I'm intrigued, keep working on it and be sure to post the results here.

Working on putting together a demo of sorts. Remixes are fun to do every once in a while though.
