Since when? We've never had more than one deejay competition occurring during the same time period. It would consume too much time and cause confusion. The Artist Lounge comps may occur at the same time as ours but they're just individual tracks.

Since whenever, if someone wants to host one then they're welcome to. That's why this section was made so people can host their competitions. If you don't have time to participate, then you don't have to.

I'm fully aware why this section was created, Louth. I've been involved with the competitions in some capacity for 4 years. If you backtrack through previous contests remaining in the dj booth in that 4-year span, you'll find that there were no overlapping competitions.

However, it appears you're missing the point about participation. We're not trying to turn folks away. Delays have occurred with events to guarantee that latecomer's involvment. Community members, old and new: pro deejay, bedroom deejay, music enthusiast and/or experimenters are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Listeners within the DI community are invited to vote and post opinions. It's to enhance the feeling of community for all and further networking amongst the deejays. It's to improve skills and/or develop them, assumingly in a supportive environment. It's supposed to be fun.

Not participating is not the issue for those who are regulars in these events. It's a matter of wanting to participate and having the time to do so. If 2 appealing ideas are introduced and executed within the same time frame, that would/could pose problems for the interested party. Time is a huge factor, and quite possibly the most important one. People have lives outside of DI and real life requires the best possible attention. That fact affects spinning time. One's supply of tracks is another factor a.k.a. available funds to invest. Some people's music libraries are vastly bigger than others. I would love to get ahold of Deadly Groove's, ghozt's and HudsonHawk's respective libraries.

The participating deejay wants their set to be received well, regardless of his/her vision for that set's creation. Anonymity is usually a criteria in these contests so a person with limited tunage would want to avoid revealing their identities. All in all, time again emerges as the key factor. None of us may be happy with the finished product that will be heard, but we want the best possible mix submitted in that time frame.

Again, we want everyone to participate here in some capacity.

I think we're over thinking the competing part and not focusing on the having fun part...

Hopefully some will not feel intimidated by 2 comps and instead be a catching net

i think what louth may be trying to say is that theres nothing that says 2 comps cant go on at once.

but as a generous act we've only held one at a time.

Since the current competition is coming to a close shortly, it's a good time drop ideas for the next one. If you want to pursue rickdawson's idea, post on that thread. If you have something different in mind, post it here.

I have no clue to these mixes. I mean I have way off guesses but no for sure bets here.

i like the dj relay idea also we can do a pick out of the hat comp. we gather a group of themes for mixes "put them in a hat" so to speak. and everyone picks. whoever portrays their theme the best wins. this way ppl dont vote based on their favorite.

edit i just realized i wont even be able to take part in the next few comps as i will be away from my decks whilst at school. so what ever u decide is fine i will do my best to listen in a vote tho.
