I've had pretty much nothing to do all day lately, so I've just been listening to sets all day, one after the other. Every now and then, I'd listen to something on the DI radio stations, but not always. I transfered some sets to my mp3 player and listened to them on the go.

Oh, and I've also been listening when I can't sleep. Went to sleep at 4:00 AM last night just listening to the sets, and resumed when I woke up. I just finished hearing the last set twenty minutes ago.

Yeah there is a lot of quality house out there, just just have to find the right artists/tracks. I've been a big fan of Deadmau5, Micky Slim, Chris Lake, & Justice but there is a lot of garbage that's overplayed/cheesy that's out right now... just gonna find the gems

Especially with electro house being really popular right now.

kick ass mix man, im not really "into" house but that was a set of house i enjoyed 100%. real bangin stuff, i would love to hear some of those basslines on some REAL speakers

No, the intro is off of Busta Rhymes - Extinction Level Event from 1998.

I would like to mention that yes, I did not specify that these sets had to be edm. That's partly because I like every type of music but even more importantly, I wanted everyone to use their full potential of their imagination which I see fugue has done. I haven't gotten to yours yet fugue but I have a feeling I will tonight.

my favourite ones so far is shoom's mix and camerons mix and tek fox's as well as psneakys, man they are all good, i havbe a bunch of your sets in there shoom :P (its ghozt isn't it? lol i dunno ) the goa/psy trance channel here on DI was the channel that braught me here, loved it cause it was different and was awsome, soon learned about the other genres, but psychadelic trance always has a soft spot in my heart

psy trance also fits really well with the dark theme of halloween

Also I take offense when you call house cheesy... house is a very broad genre that encompasses so much different artists and music. It can be scary funky deep hard minimal. Without house we'd be listening to god knows what...

I was simply stating my opinion, take it or leave it.

I felt I should aid a collegue who just happened to share a similar opinion to my own. If I stepped on toes I did not mean to. I simply thought others in this competition, or those judging the competition, deserved to know that there are multiple DJs who feel a non EDM set entered in an all-but-one EDM competition on an EDM radio music site seems a little misplaced. I am not in any way saying the DJ who mixed it is any less of a DJ than EDM DJs, nor am I saying that DJ is more of a DJ. Clearly someone has to spin non EDM music at regular nightclubs because most people think EDM is, well, stupid for lack of a better term (clearly most of us, if not all of us, disargee with that).

As far as my set being wicked scary, you are in luck; I cannot speak for anyone else on the wickedness of their personal sets, but I made a solid effort to use the darkest, most creepy psy I own.

#1 pick: Cameron Raptor - Truly Dark
#2 pick: Deadly Groove - Extraterrestrial Invasion - The End of Human Civilization
#3 pick: Fugue - Anthem of the Undead

They all represent a good dark Halloween but Cameron's Hardstyle mix is just ****ing great. awesome flow, great track selection and damn near flawless on all three picks in the mixing.

Keep it up - awesome job by all dj's. every mix was good although some are shorter then others but, hey, still some banging tunes to work to today.

so far hawks and tek-fox have got the most plays from me, both relatively new genres to me that i'm reallllly enjoying. Loved the always welcome acid flavor of DG's as well.

I would not be offended if you called psy cheesy, most of it these days is. I never said your type of house is cheesy... I haven't gotten to your set yet, I don't even know if thats what you mixed for this comp. or not. All I did was compliment someone on their personal style. I all open for discussions in this thread everyone and discussions of genres is a welcoming one to say the least. As long as it's kept civil, I will not request a removal of anyone's posts. So far the thread is going well and Bloodwing, your point of view is always welcomed in my eyes my friend. I'm glad to see you posting my Psy-friend.

As for DJs being the Shaman of this era, I agree. I have always considered myself a modern day Shaman as far back as 1993 when I read the book on Shamanism. In this day and age, I consider myself a monk in the ways of edm and the DJing culture which doesn't always encompass electronic dance music.
