THE NO RULES FREE FOR ALL RULES MIX
The rules are that there are no rules. Actually, - that’s a complete lie. Exceptions to the rules include: a) DJ's that enter must review their peers with a discussion: Track listing and Style: a) DJ's and all other listeners have 6 points to allocate. b) Complete freedom in personal judgment - award up to 6 points in total: Example: DJ 2 - 2 points, DJ 7 - 1 point, DJ 4 - 1 point, DJ 9 - 2 points (Total 6 points). Example: If one particular DJ rocked your boat - DJ 1 - 6 points. (Total 6 points). Technical: a) ONLY Entering DJ's may award up to 6 points to allocate in the same manner as above. Other: a) DJ's vote for themselves in the same manner. However, those points are merely cosmetic and are subtracted from the total for that DJ at the competition end. This will serve as to protect the anonymity of the DJ and prevent skewing of the results. Be honest about how it went for you. Describe where you could have improved. b) Reviews and point allocations for the DJ's peers are posted after the closing date for entry. Each DJ should post their reviews for all other DJ’s in one go and not piecemeal. This will make it easy for DJ’s to consider the feedback given. c) All other listeners post as and when they wish. d) All DJ's provide a track listing and review with their entry along with the points. e) Entering DJ's must distinguish in dual paragraphs what they are awarding their points for. Example: 1) It was a load of rubbish what that bloke ciscobiz played. That guy shouldn’t show his face around this part of town again. 2) But I liked his style. f) Anything up to an hour. g) Anonymous. Any identifiable information disqualifies. h) Submissions to Dustwave. PM him for your number and upload details. i) Any media - Hardware or Software (Ableton, Traktor, Mixmeister etc.). j) 128k MP3 format for all entries. k Closing date Sunday 8th April 2007 23:59 GMT. l) Voting closes Sunday 22nd April 2007 23:59 GMT. m) DJ identities are revealed in the points ranking at the end of the competition. Remember: This is an opportunity for beginners and those more experienced alike to get together and hear some honesty in what your fellow faces are playing. Speak your mind. Always. oh - is it a secret number/upload address given by request deal again?
and btw, Lotz - screw you! its a valid question considering the number of n00bs who aren't familiar with the process...

3,2, or 1 point for each section. Per DJ.
If you don't think they made a very good effort technically - nil point. If the tracks were great - 3 points. Total 3 points for that DJ out of a possible 6 point maximum. If there are any real issues with the new points system - we can change if people are in agreement but I figured we all were in broadly in favour in the original discussion thread. I just posted up to get things moving since Bruce seems to have a lot on at the moment. Dustwave is gratefully handling all the hosting - PM him for your number and upload details. The DJ's vote for each other - 3 points per section. 6 maximum. All DJ's must award points 0-6 for all other DJ's except themselves!
Everybody else votes 1st: 3 points, 2nd: 2 points, 3rd: 1 point. 3 votes just as in all other competitions. NB: I would prefer it if the reviews were entered in one go for all DJ's by each reviewer and not piecemeal during the voting period. Take your time - your fellow DJ's want to hear what you think, where we went wrong and what we might do to improve. I will keep an eye on the board and update the rules if there is any need for further clarification. Last edited by ciscobiz : Mar 8th, 2007 at 07:02 AM. |

I think the idea Phin, is so that other DJs (who supposedly know more about technical aspects) are therefore voting on such things, where-as the regular joe bloggs just votes for what they like .... init??

but forcing the DJs to vote for less range of options than the regular joe bloggs - thats kinda like saying the DJs are less able to be trusted with their voting...

![]() Won't someone please sort this out!! Why not submit your mixes, and then go with the flow ... when people start voting, it will probably all become clear!!

First I thought like Phin, one hit for my hero DJ in each category (3+3) with 6 points in total at my disposal. Now it seems that if I have e.g. 10 contestants (plus myself) I could award up to 60 points in total theoretically if i thought their mixes were all sublime in both categories...? ![]() Edit: I'm on same drift as dibbles right now...
