every producer must be used once in a 45 minute mix. you are allowed no more then 2 extra songs with producers not on the predetermined list. no intro or outro's. no samples.

I'll agree to that. I don't mind the standard style trance, but how about some variation.

Maybe throw in an
Astrix / Wizzy Noise
Mac Zimms/ Scott Mac/ Mojado

something other than just standard uplifting trance.

I do like G&D though. They can be suited to whatever style because of their proggy, electro, techy, or trance styles on various remixes/tunes. I vote to keep them in for sure

5 predetermined producers(allaises and remix's of non-producers allowed)
all listed producers must be used atleast once
no longer then 45 minutes
no intro's, outro's, samples
no more then 2 tracks maybe used from producers not on the list

My whole piont was a different producer from each different genre.
To specifically not have another trance comp.

If you guys, at this piont, decide to not step outside the comfy little confines of your specific genre than there is no piont to having a another comp.

so,about 7 tunes total (theoretically since 5 producers and 2 non producers) I think 35min max should work. I for one don't have time to listen to 10x 45min sets. We had 7 last time and that was fairly short notice. I think we could get more this time. 30-35min would be ideal, IMO

I have no problems stepping out. See my first post in here. I listed some tech producers as well as psy. So I think it's a good idea to have to change the genres up and see how well one can still keep the beat flowing.

nah, I get it. But can we have a more universal Trance producer in there? Makes for a little more variation as they're gonna have more songs they've touched.

Also, can one genre be psy? please please please

if i had to make a guess i would say that a good part of us spin vinyl and fall into the guide lines of trance/prog.trance.imo dont think people are gonna be to willing to drop $30-40$ for new records we'll probably never use again. i could easily be wrong though.

i think you totally miss the idea of this competition - we wanted to make it open to more than just a bunch of trance/prog. trance mixes - we've already done that already and a bunch didn't play 'cos they just weren't interested. wee wanted a challenge, with a range of styles so that no-one is excluded and everyone has to demonstrate skills in all genres...

the idea of different producers and different mixes means you could go for the trance mix of a song by every producer. just don't expect many votes if your mix is a boring samey euphoric trance mix when competeing with more complex journeys through a variety of genres...

im not missing the idea at all. i know it was to cross genres and get everyone involved. as long as people can use say a break beat producers song but remix in a different genre we'll keep more people involved, especially those that spin vinyl and might not be able to go drop money on tracks they'll probably never use again.

and i though you liked my 2nd list of producers. not boring euphoric trance. techy,chunky,alittle tribal and dark lol

Tending to only one genre because of a handful of people who fail to appreciate other styles of music is not the best thing to do.

That is what has been done already.
I suggest we don't do the same thing again.

I am not worried about unfair judging, nearly so much as not even being represented.

Yes, hence why I completely ignored the first competition. Listening to the same songs, all from the same genre, over and over again is not my idea of entertainment!

I'm up for it as long as tracks by these producers will be easily accessable. Just did a quick search for Pendulum on Beatport and there seems to be plenty of tracks, not sure about the rest. Except BT of course. I think I pretty much collected his entire discography.

All those artists are huge in their respective genres. They have dozens of releases each.

have 3 judges that are open to all genres and vote on beatmatching, style, etc.
