Why is it so frustrating not knowing what you're listening to? Isn't it more exciting to be surprised? I'd rather hear mixes and not know what to expect, it makes hearing the mix more enjoyable and who knows, you might hear some tracks and artists that you never heard before, unless you're one of those trendy listeners who only likes whats popular but then people like that are just sheeps following the herd. I hope nobody in here are trendy fanboys.

I tend to agree with this school of thought. I mean, when was the last time you went to see a big name DJ live knowing the tracklist?

i've only just read all of the weekend's posts.

why on earth would you want to pre-dispose your opinions one way or another with a set list? what are you guys so scared of? don't wan't to get caught out likeing something you're not supposed to?

grow up! either it's good to your ears or it's not. who cares what the labe says. it's what's in the tin that counts.

i say no track list, just listen and enjoy - stays more annonymous that way.

There's not going to be tracklists. We're going to make our mixes, you are all going to listen to them and you are all going to vote on which one you like the best. Having a tracklist makes all of the closed-minded listeners not listen and will only vote on whoever they know the most from the tracklist. Again let's keep the fanboy way of thinking out of this. Open your minds, don't be shallow and listen to all the mixes. Jesus Christ man!

Post the tracklists after the best mixes are decided. It's always good to add a track you like to the vinyl collection.

Thats what I meant.. nothing more frustrating than hearing a kick ass song and not knowing what is is! But I am all for not knowing the playlist till after the comp, just as long as they are shown!

And as for trendy songs??? I thought that that is why we were all on this site.. to avoid brain dead sheep who belive the hype fed to them.

I think that we are all capable of making our own choices on the songs we like...and are open minded enough to listen to all of the mixes and appreciate all types of genre.. which is why thei comp is so exciting.. its not only gonna be DJ against DJ, but style vs style.....

Personally Im just as excited about listening to all your mixes as doing my own. Not having listened to many of your works its gonna be cool having no preconceptions about what I am gonna hear!

luckily, those of us with regular posts to SSP tend to be people like me, exercyst and DG with such an eclectic variety of genres you never know what's coming next.

btw. i chose my final mix, drunk, on sunday so the resulting tunes and mixing style will be different to anything people will think is me.

haha, I dig that. I'll be giving my mix some thought throughout the next 2 weeks. Most likely submit closer to deadline again.

I'm having trouble deciding on the mix I want to submit myself. I find half of me wanting to do one that starts with a bang

, and the other half with a more gentle introduction of beat

.
I am so torn.

I will probably pick a third before I submit, which is likely to be on the 15th.

We shall have to wait and see what sort of week I have!

Aight cool! I don't mind submiting a tracklist after the comp. That's all good in the hood. I'm going to submit my mix closer to the deadline too because I have many other projects that need to be done simultaneously.
