This is actually quite interesting, Dell never asked for the disk containing windows back, and the refund was marked "goodwill unspecified." I wonder who actually lost the money from this refund. From the article it says that he cost Dell the money, not Microsoft. I wonder how dell handles the purchases of licenses from ms and whether or not they have the power to get the money refunded from unused licenses.

i'm intrigued, was wondering similar things myself.

it's only recently there's been a clampdown on companies who don't provide a windows disc but try to get away with not putting the proper sticker on the machine...
