I'm a Mac OS X user and I can't stand iTunes. There's no support for streaming AAC (although it plays AAC, weird, huh?), or AACplus.
Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternate MP3/AAC/AACplus player for OS X? I wish Winamp had a Mac port... ![]() |

I don't like iTunes 7 because it takes so much more resources. I think I have 5 or 6 on my iBook.

You should be able to compile AmaroK, but that might be a little too much for you. AAC should work too if the xine engine is compiled with the right codecs.

I've just started trying Play for OSX. I found it on Versiontracker because I was desperate for something that's not Itunes, as well. There are quite a few on versiontracker that might support streaming AAC as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've found that VLC is a very nice, lightweight player that does the job quite well (thanks, 90degrees).
I wish Apple would get their stuff together and fix iTunes properly. For its size, you would image that it at least would stream AAC. :/ |

Winamp would be awesome if you could run it on Mac OS X, Winamp has the best and greatest selection of visualizations out of all of the Media Players. Mac OS X is truly lacking in terms of selection of Media Players. Sure they do have RealPlayer for Mac OS X but it features are extremely limited compared to its Windows Counterpart.
