Default Idea for a new DJ Comp.

I was thinking last night about Dj Comps.

This might be a good idea but might be a lengthy one, it depends on how many participants we would get.

well what if we had a DJ competition where you had to make a mix, so that people had to ID your songs. The person with the least amount of Track ID's would win.

like maybe everyone makes a 10 song DJ set.

Now we might have to say you can use 5 songs from 2010 then 5 songs from any year, to make it kinda of fair, because theres prob some off the wall songs that were released on some random label no one even knows about.

But with 5 recent, it would make it somewhat fair.

any ideas.

I think this oculd be fun but we need figure out to how to make it so it isn't impossible to DI the tracks but not easy as well.

also how would the comp work?

I was thinking 1 week for each set. Or maybe a couple of days, depending on how many people try this.

i started on these forums as someone who ID'd songs. I haven't done it for awhile, but i use to be able to ID many songs (but that was with some background info like which set the song was played in).

anyways.

Whats are you thoughts or suggestions?

I'm pretty sure No one would guess my tracklist. I'd say dg might be the only one to get close.
and it'd have to be 5 tracks from 09 to be fair, to all genres. Not sure how much everyone gets pumped out in only two months.

I think if we're collectively IDing tracks it wouldn't be THAT hard. Between us there are experts in all genres. I think it would be better if this wasn't anonymous either.

what about remixes.... would you get half a point for guessing the original track but screwing up on the remix?

yeh everyone on DI would be able to participate of course, it wouldn't just be the people who made mixes, otherwise thatd be unbelievable hard.

Even though i spin trance, i got almost 1/2 of my vinyl collection from listening to record sites for numerous hours.

yeh the remixes i was debating too. Id say 1/2 a point atleast.

yeh this comp could really bring out some good unknown tunes, thats why i mainly want to do it.

if we deice recent 09 tunes or old one, either way, good gems will be in this comp if it happens.

also this comp would be open to everyone to guess. The people who make the sets wont be the only people allowed to guess, everyone will have a part in it that wishes to ID the tracks.

also Ominae brought up about remixes. If you were to guess the right song but wrong remix you would get 1/2 point.
