Default Headphones... (Another one)

Alright I'm looking for a pair of headphones, willing to spend up to $200. They'll be used for casual mixing on my computer, and listening to my MP3 player. I would prefer sound isolation, but that's not too much of a biggie. My ears seem to be oddly shaped (no earbuds fit in) so those won't work. I'm all ears

Preferably they're not that big. The sleeker looking the better. TIA.

Got it down to two-

The Sennheiser 280Pro's or the Sennheiser HD-555's
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD5...&s=electronics

http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B0001FT...000145-4751212

Anyone care to help me on this very difficult decision?

Edit: Posted the link to the 595's, in the running are the 280's, 555's, and the 595's.

I would go with Technics RP-DH1200. They're cool and they tickle your ears

Well, I have these AKG k271 Studio sets. Dont konw how much they would cost you in your country, but in norway its 1 600 Kr, which is about 255 dollars these days.

My first reason to like them is that they are able to close out unwanted sounds while being very comfortable, and that is coming from a guy ith a big head. They even have this function that they get turned of when you take them off.

The set is selfadjusting, which is neat and handy, and even though the set looks like it cant take a little punishment, thats wrong imo. Ive been treating them kinda badly, bet they dont seem to mind that.

The sound is topnotch, it works very fine on an mp3 player, even though an amp is prefered. Im not much of an audiophile when it comes to subtle differences, but I must say the sound is very distuingishable; the bass isnt your strongest in the world, but I looove the way it makes it distuingishable even on the very deep tones, without making the sound murky. (Which my previous set did alot)

For some the size would be a downside, (they're BIG) for my part however, I dont buy headsets to be small. I got my earplugs for that! Headsets should be big IMO. They dont sit ON your ears, but around them.

Anyhoo, a personal recomendation from my side would be AKG K271 Studio.

I think you're wasting your money when you buy a pair that costs over 100 bucks (I would almost like to say $50).

Than you're an idiot who doesn't understand sound reproduction. You're also the one who thinks a DJ setup in a box is all you'll ever need too then huh? So how's that Kia you're driving? Must be good enough since spending more than $7k on a new car is not worth it.

How many times do you need to be beat up for your idiotic suggestions regarding audio devices before you clue in that you don't know shit about sound, or more importantly about spending money wisely. You spend $30 on headphones that sound like shit and then break 2 months later, so what do you do, you spend another $30 on another pair of shitty headphones. Now you are out $60 bucks and still have shitty sound and chances are those headphones won't last very long and you'll waste another $30 in 6 months if you're lucky. You'll have spent $90 in a year on crap.

Or you could buy wisely. You could look at manufacturers that invest money in research and reliability and back their products up with a no bullshit warranty that's more than 30 days. If you spend $200 on a set of headphones that are guaranteed to last 2 years (even if they break they get fixed or repaired for free), and in all likelihood will last more like 4+ years, not only will you have spent less money than replacing one shitty pair after another (the route you take), they will have sounded better the whole time.

You are the one wasting money. If you want to burn money, be my guest, but keep your cheap and ineffectual advice to yourself.

I have the AKG K240 studio which is a model or two down from those, fantastic sound, i must say. well worth the price. I would recommend it if you like that kind of headphone design.

I'd buy Sennheiser HD-555 if I were you. I'm using lil better model, but bellow 200$ it's the best choice.

Oh! Guess I am totally insane then, since I have spent $8.000 on headphone related equipment the last six months.
Stax headphones and amplifiers. Plus a nice external DAC.

This may go without saying but if you ever think of Skullcandy..

Don't.

Everyone I know, including me, have had them break in almost the same spot on a bunch of different models.

that's not impressive. That's like saying "My hubcaps roll off everytime I turn a corner..." like it's something awesome. You're a tool and need to be revoked from this forum. Stay out of Audio, you have no knowledge here.

Your point being?? What that they fit loosely? That they can be loud? The absence of any adjectives relating to sound quality is conspicuously absent.
