It will work in some places, but not in others (like my work). At my work guests can connect wirelessly to the net, but they have to go through a login screen where they identify themselves as guests. This gaget will not pass through this setup.
A refurbished laptop (~300-350 dollars) is better option. If you want to keep it really portable, then PDA with Wi-Fi will do everything that this thing does and much more. Conclusion. It is waste of money.
