It will work in some places, but not in others (like my work). At my work guests can connect wirelessly to the net, but they have to go through a login screen where they identify themselves as guests. This gaget will not pass through this setup.

A refurbished laptop (~300-350 dollars) is better option. If you want to keep it really portable, then PDA with Wi-Fi will do everything that this thing does and much more.

Conclusion.
It is waste of money.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Its pretty useless then.

Unless it somehow uses a different "protocol" or whatever to go through the network.

There is no other protocol. This gadget will be Ok for some people, but most people will find it useless.
