One does not simply travel to Amsterdam to go sight seeing.

Unless I were in the area for a business trip (or visiting family, none of which is located there), it would be the case for me. And by sightseeing, I mean immersing myself in the city.

![]() Spinning out when trying to show off is one thing, very stupid but no harm done. Burning up the clutch is far worse because on top of looking dumb you damage the car. But burning up the clutch when trying to get away quickly to hide your shame from spinning out, now that is a truly pathetic and a clear sign of a lack of skill. What a total douchebag. If you can't drive, stay the **** away from powerful cars!

It's a strange feeling to drive a powerful machine that you own. You would think that you just want to show off all the time, but I get the feeling that "there's no need to show off, as I (and anyone else interested about the thing) know that this is the most powerful machine at the place at the moment".

Yeah, exactly. Plus after the first few times it's really not that fun anymore. To me driving a sportscar is all about MY experience, not whoever might be looking. And usually the best places to play are not around a lot of people. IF i'm going to show off, i'll do something that i know i can pull off with flair. That's pretty much the whole point if you ask me.

And true that, the joy of new experience fades quick. I've thought, that it might be the threshold when car/bike begins to feel small / sluggish when you've accelerated and driven it to the max.
For example, they say that 600cc bike begins to feel small after 1 or max 2 bike seasons. My old 250 felt powerful at first, as it could do 5,5sec 0-100km/h, but after the summer, when I had many times accelerated as quickly as it could, it begun to feel small. Now the 1000cc is so powerful, that I have never even tapped the throttle to the end ![]() What I also saw with the 250cc, is, that with 50% throttle, the bike accelerated about 75% as good as with full throttle. So, what I've thought, that any size bike/car would get eventually small, AFTER you've topped the throttle a few times.

Yeah you get used to power. But i think that only makes the experience better. Once you're "used" to a shitload of power you can start paying attention to all the other details and the whole driving feel and handling at max power rather than just holding on for your deer life screaming like a little girl. And you can start to focus on actually properly controlling it and that's when you start to really get a feel for the vehicle. I've driven so many powerful vehicles that i don't really care for more power anymore (although that is fun at times).

I see, I've thought about that too, and thought a bit similar things, but just hypotethically, as I don't yet have the experience to say so by facts.
Some people said to me that I'm crazy if I buy 200bhp 1000cc bike after only 2 summers with 250cc 33bhp bike, but I thought that 600cc would get small too quickly, and that I've driven enough in traffic with any bike so I can focus on the power, as I've already got used to driving in traffic. Haven't regretted a second ![]()

![]() So i can't say the longing for more power is entirely gone but in the mean time my absolute favorite (the LP640) is perfect as is and doesn't need any more power and is still just as exciting as the first time i drove it. Not to say it's in any way short on power with it outputting 40 or so hp more than the factory standard 640.
