Day-um, yet another great 'core set that I had never heard. I had no idea that hardcore had been influenced so much by trance in the last few years. This set, however, really backs up the idea that it is a good thing, when all said and done.

Thanks for the playlist, spy.

This isn't Hardcore, it's Trance. I wonder how these people were deluded enough to even name it that way.

Talking very good!!!

Yes, it's very trancey, but it is absolutely awesome. Really one of the best mixes I've ever heard of any genre.

Yo moron Breeze and styles were making this type of stuff around 92 onwards before the music type "trance" was even coined, so if anything trance is just a mellow form of this type of hardcore and not the other way round. Actualy used to be Force&Styles (pretty sure it's the same dj).

How many trance tunes you know start at a base 150+ bpm?

happycore is just evolving so it may sound a little trancey, since producing it is better these days, and its great how happycore is evolving, unlike trance that sounds the same for years and years.

Just because a synth or two is gated doesn't make it trance... or does it? It's not like anybody's sitting there defining quantitative boundaries of trance vs pop vs the million subgeneras of EDM. I think it sounds great--and the speed definitely would turn off a lot of trancey people.

Perfect for doing math... er... ugh. Numbers. Linear Algebra is hell.

Hehe, well noticed. It has been evolving somewhat though, 1994/95/96 trance (Amorph, Intrance, Measurement, MIDI Control, Timo Maas) sounds a bit different from the present day trance in that you'd hear harder synths and no vocals (save for an occasional sample), but since 1997, when melodic and vocal trance took over, it pretty much stayed the same (Thrillseekers, Solar Stone, Lange, Fragma, Ian van Dahl, etc). There may have been other subtypes established (freeform?) but they didn't take over.
