Default Comment of the day

"Greece needs to roll over it's debt. They are not able to pay the private banks right now, so the EU gives them public money and Greece uses this money to "roll over" the private debt =pay back the private banks. Rinse and repeat until the private banks are sufficiently repaid. Greece will then be allowed to default and the losses will be mostly public = taxpayers from other EU countries will bear the losses. On top of that the private banks will make money off bets on Greek default. Bankers will pat themselves on their backs and earn big bonuses for making huge money in such "adverse" environment."

I was gonna be all cheeky and quote the rules where it says no politics, but I can't find it

Anyway, 303, I don't see how that vid is relevant to Legend's topic.

Well, there's a Social Commentary forum too.
Kinda hard to discuss that without getting into politics. (particularly in this age of social engineering [and cultural marxism])

Yep! That sums it up.

I've been looking into investing. Been trying to figure out where the hell to start but when you see how much corruption and self-interested behavior you discover within all corporations and adult human behavior....you quickly realize there is no such thing as a safe investment (except maybe in educating yourself). Roll the dice and play the game. It's that simple. Otherwise, you become a poor and hopeless cynic.

Well if the nationalists ever get power it will certainly stop the problem legend is talking about. What other problems that will create however is anyone's guess.

Really Europe has no good options, its all just a gamble on which one will hurt the least.

Also as to your Sig its-exit, couldn't free will be defined to be the right to decide your own pleasures?

you could always deflower the politics subforum. I've always wondered if that'll ever happen...

This article should be mandatory reading in todays school systems, but i doubt it will happen. Either way:

http://mises.org/daily/5752/The-Fascist-Threat
Read in its entirety, a very well put article on current events.

Quote:
Everyone knows that the term fascist is a pejorative, often used to describe any political position a speaker doesn't like. There isn't anyone around who is willing to stand up and say, 'I'm a fascist; I think fascism is a great social and economic system."

But I submit that if they were honest, the vast majority of politicians, intellectuals, and political activists would have to say just that.

Fascism is the system of government that cartelizes the private sector, centrally plans the economy to subsidize producers, exalts the police state as the source of order, denies fundamental rights and liberties to individuals, and makes the executive state the unlimited master of society.

This describes mainstream politics in America today. And not just in America. It's true in Europe, too. It is so much part of the mainstream that it is hardly noticed any more.

It is true that fascism has no overarching theoretical apparatus. There is no grand theorist like Marx. That makes it no less real and distinct as a social, economic, and political system. Fascism also thrives as a distinct style of social and economic management. And it is as much or more of a threat to civilization than full-blown socialism.

This is because its traits are so much a part of life — and have been for so long — that they are nearly invisible to us.

If fascism is invisible to us, it is truly the silent killer. It fastens a huge, violent, lumbering state on the free market that drains its capital and productivity like a deadly parasite on a host. This is why the fascist state has been called the vampire economy. It sucks the economic life out of a nation and brings about a slow death of a once-thriving economy.

Let me just provide a recent example.

I like the message. It's not about politics in the traditional sense. Usually politics means conservative vs. liberal, or some variation of that depending on the country. This is more of an overall look on the concentration and source of power a government has over its citizens. How free are we really?
