Reading Students Threatened In Rap On Myspace.com

Dustin Fiore and his brother, John Settemio, are both students at the Austin Prepatory School in Reading.

The boys, along with other students, are named in a rap that was made by two sophomores who also attend Austin Prep.

"It was disgusting, vile and completely inappropriate," said Wayne Fiore, the boys' father.

Fiore isn't planning on pressing charges but is upset with the school's handling of the situation.

Fiore and another parent met with the school's dean last week. Fiore says he was told both students who made the rap would be suspended for three days. But in the following days, one of the students was seen at a school hockey game and the other was seen in school.

The school released the following statement:

"Creating and maintaining a safe, harassment-free environment for our students is a top priority. The use and publication of the lyrics in question clearly was reprehensible and a violation of our policies. The authors of those abhorrent lyrics have been appropriately disciplined. We have already held seminars for students and parents on internet safety and use and we will continue to sponsor such events."

The student rappers have pulled the song from the Myspace site and issued an apology.

Yeah if it was during the 80s and 90s yeah there were positive rap but now it's just MTV! Watch the movie Havoc if you want to understand what I mean.

Hey, I went to high school there!

My friends and I had rap and dance battles after school everyday. By the time we left there was quite a following in the younger grades. I hope this isn't somehow the result. I don't recall any exact lyrics, but I'm sure the typical, hollow high school threats flew about the cafeteria from time to time. I'd be quick to assume it's a big deal made over high school kids simply being moronic high school kids. And, I don't see how MySpace.com could take any of this blame, they didn't really do anything; I'd blame the offending students and their parents.
