WTF!? So if I purchase a CD and rip and put in my iPod I am stealing? I did pay for that CD and have every right to do whatever I want with it, 2 words **** RIAA!

it seems that music is becomming more and more controlled. well here's what we need to do. not buy any more cds period, make our own music and distribute it freely to each other or for a small donation. the record industry has already gone too far.

That's the only way to destroy them is by cutting off their power. If they have no money, they have no power and they will fall and fall hard. I want them to fall and I want every major record label to colapse and go out of buisness because nobody wants to make music for them. It will happen but it's a matter of time before it does. I can't wait for the day when it does.

It just does not make sense at all I purchased a CD well now I own it, I also purchased a iPod and own that too, since I paid for it I am not doing anything illegal why would I have to purchase the same song of iTune's when I can just rip my CD and not pay for it again.

Yep Record Industrys will be going downhill.

think about it... Apple will not stand for this. They make so much money off the iPod that they will not let it suddenly be illegal. They have a lot of influence and they will not some greedy record label CEO's and the RIAA screw everything up for everyone.

A boycott of CD purchases will accomplish nothing. The RIAA is a joint operation of Sony, Time Warner, Universal, BMG, and EMI. Those companies deal with so much more than just CD sales. Every time you buy a Sony product or see a Time Warner movie you are supporting the RIAA. They're huge, but there's no need to seek vengeance against them because it is they themselves who are hurting their own business by fighting new technology rather than adapting to it.

This is starting to get ridiculous. I thought you were allowed to make a copy of your CD for backup purposes for your own non public use. So by ripping/copying music to your iPod does that not constitute a backup? And what's wrong with listening to your "backup" copy as you walk down the street.
