Default The Stig caught on tape without helmet!

Top Gear was at circuit Zolder today to film a new episode and a Belgian tv crew filmed some interesting stuff... Several people took pictures and video and confirmed that there were multiple Stigs, like many people already suspected. One of them was caught without helmet and is indentified as Tim Schrick (this guy).

The video: http://www.tvl.be/nl/nieuws/2008-05-...gear-in-zolder

So now that we know Tim Schrick is one of the Stigs...the question is who are the others... Or better yet...could this have been on purpose? Perhaps it's one big set up to confuse the fans...or perhaps the fans got too close to identifying the real stig? Or maybe we'll see exactly what was going on in the episode that was shot today...

The only thing that is for sure right now is that Tim Schrick was in a Stig suit filming with the Top Gear crew...judge for yourself

Looks like it's gonna be one hell of a Top Gear season again...this weird challenge they were filming today with Sabine Schmitz...the three Veyrons (including a Pur Sang) in Abu Dhabi a couple of days ago...i wonder what else is coming...

I don't want to sound dumb, but I really don't know...what's the story behind the "stig"?

From wikipedia:

The Stig is the name given to the anonymous racing driver on the BBC motoring show Top Gear. In the show he is cast as a mysterious "tame racing driver" whose identity is unknown, and who never speaks or removes his helmet on camera. Nonetheless he is fully credited as a presenter, albeit as "The Stig", alongside Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The whole mystery is a big hype...everybody is always trying to figure out who he really is.

Anyway, i doubt this guy is the "main" Stig...it just doesn't seem right that he was visible right in the open there today, it's a pretty well kept secret... Also, i could be wrong, but his suit seems different lol.

Thanks for clarifying
And just to comment, I agree with you. I don't think this guy is the "stig"; it's all publicity.

I don't know.....I allways thought that the stig was either an F1 driver or a WRC nut job. I mean this guy looks so.....I don't know....normal! I mean where is the eye patch and the scars!
But if you ask me....and this is just me talking. The suit he is wearing doesn't fit him right. Looks too loose.

Yeah i can't wait for that either...i've seen em a couple of times IRL, sat in the passenger seat too...and it's just SOOO impressive. The sound that thing makes combined with the crazy looks and the monsterous engine laying there for everyone to see, it's just crazy...i was absolutely speechless the first time i saw it and heard it's engine running! And another time at a big carshow there were dozens of people standing around it, and when they started the engine everything became quiet...except for the car ofcourse...
Not to mention the acceleration...seeing that thing blast away full throttle is crazy, it's out of sight in a matter of seconds...now i gotta go bribe someone to lend me theirs...i wanna drive it! lol

Well he can't be a current F1 driver, and a bunch of F1 drivers said he isn't an ex-F1 driver either cause apparently he takes certain corners differently than all F1 drivers do. And yeah, the guy does look really...normal...but he can drive like hell though! I'v seen a couple of videos of him driving all kinds of cars, and he really knows what he's doing...skill wise it could be him i think. And yeah, i do think there's something odd about his suit... Also, a Dutch reporter got to ask the Stig (or whoever was in the suit) a question, and she said he had a British accent...so that can't have been Tim Schrick.

I'm thinking an older F1 driver. Say some one who drive in the late 80s back before the cars were compture controlled.
If you see how the stig takes corners and how old F1 guys took corners......it looks a lot alike.
Also he is ok with the car being sideways so he must have some sort of WRC experience.

Could be, but i get the feeling he isn't old enough to have been an F1 driver in the 80s.

Don't have to be WRC to go sideways...i spend quite a bit of time going sideways when on the track and i'm not a rally driver haha

Ben Collins seems to be the most likely option judging by his voice and the one picture in which you can see his face through the visor.

Yeah I throw my car and my bike sideways....but that doesn't mean I know what I'm doing 100% of the time.
You know there were a lot of good F-300 drivers and god knows how many F1 test drivers?
Who knows!

Sure but with enough practice you would. You don't need to be a rally driver to learn it...

so Tim Schrick was racing against the stig as the german opposition - and got his butt kicked. back to square one - who is a good enough driver to claw back a 4s deficit and win a porche versus aston race...?

i reckon it's a GT driver - the thing about him taking a different line to the f1 drivers and the fact he can drive proper race cars real fast...

Collins has done GT aswell...and then there's the fact that he has appeared in multiple top gear episodes (in plain view) for challenges etc...which could mean that either they asked him since he was there anyway, or they purposely did that to make us think "oh noes it can't be him that would be too obvious". And his voice is very similar...so are his eyes seemed similar aswell in that photo where you could see through the visor... ah well i dunno
