Default How to tell if a girl is lying to you?

This is a tough one but how can you tell if your girlfriend is lying to you?

My girlfriend (ex-gf now) and I were doing the long distance relationship (hour and a half away) and awhile back she told me her grandma died, and it was on a weekend she was supposed to come see me.

Another time she told me her mom had recently been found out she was an alcoholic and part of the treatment was the family had to come see (once again on a weekend she was supposed to see me).

A couple months later I found out she was cheating on me and none of the above things she told me were true. Also we had been going out for 2+ years.

In situations like this how can you tell if it is the truth?

It's a good thing you aren't with her anymore because she would certainly do you no good. That's the biggest turn off to me is a woman who lies to me. Sometimes it's hard to tell. You either have to be good at telling her tone of voice when she's honest and compare it to when she's lying. You wouldn't be able to tell her body language because you can't see her. The best you can do is to use common sense and see if what she says makes any sense to you, if it's logical. Go with your gut feeling too. If she tells you something and you aren't buying it, it doesn't set well with you, then it most likely isn't the truth. These are things I learned being in a relationship with a lier and a cheater.

Sounds like you weren't close in the first place... because things like her mom being an alcoholic and her granddad passing away ... cmon.... I mean cmon

Oh this sounds very bad specially if she put so horrible excuses about Grandma or her Mom.

You are definitely much better without her as you deserve an honest person that loves you very much.

I think you definitely can tell when a person is lying by the tone of her voice over the phone however that depends if you have been together for a long time.

She will definitely suffer at the end as lies sooner or later come to the light and she won't be able to have a nice relationship until she starts being honest, I can tell you that for sure she is not even honest with herself and that is the toughest part.

Cheer up and forget her mate

We had a period of time when we were broken up and she told me that her mom being an alcoholic thing happened then and when we got back together she, I guess, used it to her advantage.

About her grandmother dying, her grandma lived in another state so she had to "fly to Georgia for the funeral."

Lying on any level will get anyone vexed. But lying from the person you trust like a GF/wife/whatever is just sinful and it calls for severance.

Ive said it before and ill say it again,
I think its selfish of people to cheat.
I think its selfish for her to lie and I think that your dedication and your loyalty makes you too good for her.

Some people just dont know how to someone go and sometimes it causes situations like this one. Its wrong....

i stand corrected.

BTW, I had two women in my life give me Kahlil's book, and the only thing I got out of that book was that when a woman gives it to you she is letting you know that she wants to completely overhaul your personality. (this is not the time or place to discuss why so many feel that's necessary)

and to the subjuct at hand, dont be afraid to trust the next woman/girl who captures your attention....unless she starts with the Kahlil Gilbram book. "The Prophet" or something like that.
