dont like all this hype about the world cup! its just a game, and a game which is most possibly the most boringest game ever... i know 7 billion people like it, but i dont.
soccer is a game where voilence is a major part of spectator pleasure... i cant see y poeple who like soccer can fire flares at one another just because they lost... and jump the "prison security compound fences" (you know, the 50foot high ones with razor wire on the top) and beat the players up... come on!! if you lose hak it, dont kill other people and your own players.
and the game play of soccer is rediculous!!! kicking a ball around and "pretending" that you are a proper athlete means nothing. i could do that, and i am most probably more fit then soccer players cos i play Football, you know, Australian Football League...
and also... if soccer players went into movies, they would win every Emmy Award possible... talk about wanting a free kick... you force air onto their shines and they throw theirselves onto the ground holding their shin and crying out in pain whaling for a free kick... nether the less forgeting that they are wearing shine guards!!! Best Actor: Soccer Player turns Movie Star!!!

Brazil is leading England 3:2, second half, with 5 minutes to go... Oh no!! England score... Scores are tied, 3:3... theres 2 minute left, and the crowd are very nervous... Brazil needs a tie to get into the world cup... England need to win... 30 seconds left, th ball is down at Brazils defence... Opps, a Brazilian player head butts it into the goals!! England Score... 3:4.... England are winning... whistle gets blown... tempers are soring - England are esstatic that they are in the world cup, knocking out the world champs... Brazil are emotionally unstable - irrational and wanting to inflict pain to any England person... so what do they do? they unwrap their pre-sale Flare Gun, load it up, fire it into the England cheer squad... England are now angry... they must inflict as much pain to Brazilians!!! all out brawl... thousands get killed, many more are close to dying, and they are still angry!! now Brazil want to kill the player who lost the game... enter the jump the fence scene, and beat up the player...

Some of what you are saying is very true.

However, it is more likely that supporters of a team fire a flare when their team is winning.
And I do agree with what you say about emmy winning performances, but these two things generally only happen in Italian and Spanish soccer for some reason (no offence if you are spanish or italian ).

Another problem is the racism. This is also mainly a spanish and italian problem.

and btw, it is much tougher, fitness wise, than what you may think.

played a lot of both in recreation leagues, and I really like both, and it would be impossible to say that one is more physically demanding than the other. It's pretty unfair to say a sport sucks because of some fans.

But, it's the rant page buddy and you let loose a good one.

We used to get some rugby on the sports channel late at night but I havn't seen any in while, bummer. There's my gripe.

yeah, i saw a report about the fascist a**holes who throw bananas and peanuts on the field....to black players and holding up signs that say something like "the only pay for your infamy is peanuts and bananas."

even the spanish coach got fined for telling his players to go after the "*****" on the french team. caught on film, and he still denies any wrongdoing.

i thought racism is a major problem here in the states (it is) but the outwardness of it in spain and italy and also germany is sickening. and so many in a young generation. this has to be stopped!

i agree partially, the acting is ridiculous! and some of the players are shocking at it!
why do some players put their hand on their face when the player hit them on the arm? its really stupid.

i dont mind soccer/football. i've started to like it more because of the World CUp. it kinda unites a nation. i've seen it a lot here in Australia.

Scary as it seems, there was actually an incident exactly like that a few years back. Brazil lost some important game or other, and this big Braziliian drugs baron had a sh!t load of money riding on the game.

Anyway, a few hours after the game, the goalkeeper was actually assassinated for letting the deciding goal in.

I think you're a wonderful football player, even though it's a dumbass sport. I can definetely see you're more fit than any other "soccer" player out there. I mean, what's so hard about running 90 minutes back and forth compared to 5 or even 6-second games in football, right? Besides you can be overweight and still play! weehee! AFL, as in Football? a dumb arse sport? how can u justify that? are the players dumb, the spectators??? i am wondering whether or not that you DO say that the code which i like, AFL, is stupid and for dumb arses? if so, what makes it different to any Soccer game? what do you consider "dumb"? because if you really think that AFL is stupid, thats ok, but i was wondering why?
me fitter than a soccer player? well, i dont think so about that. a 17 yr old versus an elite soccer player... who actually trains to be and stay fit. well, i know who would win that! im not saying that im "un"fit, im just saying i am not "as" fir as the elite soccer players. now about same age group as me... well, yea sure, i probably am more fit than others. i mean, sure enough the whole 90 minutes of non contact, running back and forth does wear you out... but i can say that the whole 120 minutes of AFL where you get tackled is actually "tiring"... makes me wonder why one of my friends couldn’t play AFL for the whole 4 quarters on his first game, when he had only ever played ruby and soccer his whole life... hmmmm!
5 or 6 seconds on an AFL field for a soccer player? well, if the soccer player got tackled.... well................ i wouldn’t doubt it...

yes, AFL or NFL is stupid and boring. If there wasn't a bunch of idiots playing it, they wouldn't give them 5 seconds to actually play the game and 2 minutes to figure out their next formation. Goddamn, and you're calling soccer boring? I mean, if you tape a football game and actually cut out all the tactic formation strategies and bs like that, you'd end up with good 20 minutes of pure game and running. You don't need any talent to grab the ball and run with it until you hit someone. There is nothing extraordinary about it. Where as in soccer you leg work is what gets your noticed. if you think nfl is boring you may have attention issues. soccer involves running around and getting nothing accomplished and every team is filled with little bitches who can't take contact. the worst and most unathletic football player in the nfl could still kick the ass of any soccer player.

There is a reason that the only people who play soccer in america are little kids...its a kids game!

If they could catch them, maybe. it takes a different kind of fitness to run for 90 min. than the 15 sec plays in the NFL. and talk about dangerous, entirely too many players leave w/ cripling injuries.

soccer is increasing in popularity in the US too (true, mainly in younger folk). it is truely an international sport altho not w/o its faults as pointed out above. personaly, I like watching both sports, but would only play soccer myself.

All I got to say: Soccer here in Germany is called a "Kontaktsportart" which means "sport with body contact" which means IMHO "brutal by definition". And as brutal as the players are the fans are, too.
And soccer is stupid cos 22 adults are running behind one ball.
