There is a reason that the only people who play soccer in america are little kids...its a kids game!
You're another example of ignorance in the USA. Everyone here has nothing to do with anything foreign and you make an arse out of everything that is common elsewhere. Apparently if only kids are playing soccer in the States, it automatically becomes a kids' game. (This is probably why the US has such a terrible team. I personally think they should quit playing and stick to baseball, golf and football. They'll always be world champions of all that shit, cuz nobody else plays any of those sports.) Apparently, 20+ million people throughout the world are just pathetic beings who seem to like this kids' game.

I actually like every sport or at least respect them all for what they are.

well, it seems alot of people seem to have alot of different opinions. well, your all right, but i have to put down the fact that AFL is not full of overweight people... damn!! have you actually seen an afl match??? were talking Australian Football, not NFL. no offence, but they do seem a bit over weight some of them, not the whole team - just those who protect the thrower guy haha.
AFL players are, i can say, alot more fit than those who play soccer. SO STOP SAYING THEIR OVERWEIGHT AND FAT!!! cos they are not! they are tankz! if you know what that means, then you will understand when you see a real AFL player, not NFL....
soccer as a kids sport, well, the media in australia say it is. not many adults play professional soccer in australia, and not many people watch it. you go to an AFL game, there are about 40-70 thousand spectators, go to an australian soccer match - national, not international - and they bearly make the numbers past 40 thousand, if that.
thats the same with NRL, National Rugby. they struggle to get crowds at season games, except the games like the finals and State of Origin.... damn, i still cant get over the fact you sed afl players are fat and unfit!!! far out!!!
here, i will do a search for you.. i will find some afl players, and show you that they are not overweight and that they are fit!!!! i bet you, DJ Serg, couldnt keep this up for 120 minutes!!!

oh yea, and by the way, since you know nothing about AFL, you should check out their home pages, or search google to get some insight!!!
www.afl.com.au

no game is a "kids game", except those specifically aimed at them.
i hope all those who have been given the wrong impression on AFl that they are fat, can change your minds.......
DAMN!!!

^^ you're talking about rugby? those are rubgy pics, unless i'm completely missing out on something here. I'm talking about american football, not rugby. i love rugby.
Still though, it isn't a very "talented" sport. Like i said, everyone can pick that ball and run and hit another player. There is nothing special about it.

Nah those pics aint rugby, that's totally Aussie Rules Football. Rugby Union forwards make those AFL guys look malnourished.

Just like there's nothing special about kicking a ball, I mean c'mon toddlers can do that. I'm just messin to make a point, the talent required to be on a world cup soccer team is right up there, but the same amount of talent is required to play rugby, Aussie Rules, or even American Football. They each require physical conditioning, in-depth knowledge of the sport, basic techniques and skill set. There is a place for all these sports, and different sports require different things from the athletes that compete in them.

And if you want to talk about acting skills, think back to when Dennis Rodman was playing basketball. He would work people over get all physical and aggresive until he saw and opening and then he was on his back on the floor waving his arms and acting all hurt that he didn't get a whistle his way.

You watch that video and see a superstar at the top of his game, I watch that video and see how easy it is to fool the average soccer player. heheheh

J/K bro, I'm sorry but I couldn't resist that. Feel free to hate me, I've earned it.

Very long video. Superstar of his sport, I'll not disagree.

you need strength to play football(soccer),,but its a game more about skill rather than strength/power.....twit...

yes i'm sure a relatively weak american football player could easily beat up a football player, and then be sent off for fouling,...cus he didnt have the skill to get the ball...just simplistic power

american football evolved from rugby(a similiar, older, much tougher game which we and many other countries play,,,without the weak ass padding/protection)

rugby *is* called rugby,,but it *is* officially/technically speaking,,,a type of football.(football is a blanket name for many type of games,,but generally used for soccer because i think that was the first one,,,and also because in soccer you mostly use your feet!)

..so i guess when americans took rugby and branched/altered it...they decided to refer to it using the blanket name football...which is a bit silly,,,,but thats just the way it went...

for the guy that made this thread, i think your just bitter about something, i hvnt read all of your posts but its kind of obvious.
your cut cause here in australia this has been a main topic for sports fans.
get over it this only happens every 4 years. Australia got to the world cup this year, the 1st in 32 that is why its such a big deal cause we are on a world scale for one of the biggest games in the world.

yea, i guess i am a bit bitter, and i did rite this post because australia did get in... am i not allowed to have my opinion? you have yours... i have mine - simple. i was not attacking people who enjoy it, i just dont like it very much... BUT!!
after a while, i did "kind of" enjoy a few games now and again. i "kind of" was dissapointed at the way australia was eliminated - theres my point. the game can be fair - but sometimes, just sometimes there seems to be a bad call 8 seconds before full time and results in the win of the opposition.
poor aussies.
and, it hasnt been the main topic for all sport fans. like what i feel, it wasnt on my adjenda to talk about how great it was - not really a topic of choice for me. and, not every sport fan likes soccer, so it isnt the only thing - now that the world cup is on - that every sport fan talks about.
cheers.

imo football is the most exciting sport in the world, and it is the most popular sport in the world, there are many reasons, the only thing needed to play football is a ball and two markers which can be used as goal markers, you can play with as little as 2 people
also the sport flows continuously making it a very exciting spectator sport, the sport also involves a lot of flair and technical skill, to me there is not much flair in sports like NFL and rubgy
it IS a contact sport as shoulder to shoulder contact is allowed and strength has to be utilised to try to push others off the ball or prevent people from pushing you off the ball
another thing is even though it is a physical sport which demands a lot of fitness (running non-stop for 90 mins) you actually get to see people of different sizes unlike basket-"im pro just cause im 7ft"ball and american"im pro just cause im 300lbs"NFL, you get to see 5'5" playing against 6'5" players on the pitch

Yes when have you ever seen american football players as much skill in their 15 second plays than in a whole game of soccer?Soccer requires lots of skill and i guess why americans dont like football is cause the MLS sucks so bad.Compared to american footballs 80-90 million viewers for the superbowl the world cup final had 1.1 billion people watching !Just look at how much skill these players have compared to NFL players.
