Of course natural resources are a major thing in the world. We've hit peak oil. America burns more oil than any other country out there. Gas prices are rising. What's one simple thing that people can do?
Lose weight. It's a simple idea, and you know with obesity in America it's not a bad idea. Thoughts? |

If I were to lose 100 pounds I would have more problems than just low gas mileage
![]() I think gas is still relatively cheap; it's going to get way worse. Remember Buckminster Fuller said gas should actually cost over a $1 000 000 per gallon given the replacement cost. Keep that in mind when you're driving around and you'll find better ways to increase your mileage (eg. drive a smaller car). I do know what the best way to increase your mileage/cost is, but I can't post it here because it's illegal ![]()

a lot easier for the car to lose several hundred pounds than for me to lose that weight ( altho it would be healthier for me to lose at least 1/2 that).

BTW not everyone is fat and not concerned about the earth we live on in America. I for one run or bike almost everywhere I go, how ever in the winter things get difficult (I live in Minnesota) but I still try to get out. I do it because I compete in races (triathlon, bike, and running) and it's just another way to train while I'm not actually doing my real training. When I am driving, I drive a stick and I try to keep it in the low RPM's to keep my MPG as good as I can.
I’m pretty green and proud of it, the change has got to start somewhere. |

Since they were comparing things to the 1960s.....they apparently seem to forget how many more vehicles there are on the roads now versus then, much lower gas mileage vehicles got in 1960 (except for the VW Beetle), etc., etc.,.....sorry, this premise is just such a far reach it's unbelievable....I find it interesting that the lard butts that come up with this bull$hit are telling us WE need to lose weight......buttinski bastards....and theirs is big enough to be a BIG buttinski

I hear that if you own a SUV, there is a way you can almost double your gas millage.
If one owns an SUV, they can simply park it in the garage (if it will fit) and run a hose from the exhaust to the drivers side window. This helps put the extra gas back into the car so it can be absorbed by it. Then start your car and wait for about an hour and the next time you go for a drive you will fly. |

haha, this made me think about this "device" i found on ebay which, after it's installed, would let people save gas. Then at the bottom you look to see what it is and it's a f0cking brick on the brake pedal.

It's not only about losing weight but also the way people put it on,
how much gas is wasted everyday by people cueing at Drive-Ins (worldwide) or getting their "food" delivered? |

Perhaps we'll soon be riding in cars that run on compressed air.
I'm not kidding, check it out."Refilling the car will, once the market develops, take place at adapted petrol stations to administer compressed air. In 2 or 3 minutes, and at a cost of approximately 1.5 Euros, the car will be ready to go another 200-300 kilometres." "As no combustion takes place, there is no pollution. Its mileage is about double that of the most advanced electric car (200 a 300 Km or 10 hours of driving), a factor which makes a perfect choice in cities where the 80% of motorists drive at less than 60Km." "As an viable alternative, the car carries a small compressor which can be connected to the mains (220V or 380V) and refill the tank in 3-4 hours." "Due to the absence of combustion and, consequently, of residues, changing the oil (1 litre of vegetable oil) is necessary only every 50,000 Km." http://www.theaircar.com/ The oil companies are gonna absolutely love this car. ![]()

i know a man who gets 25-27 extra-urban mpg in his diesel Excursion. he ran a cold air intake and 4 inch exhaust to a chipped down Powerstroke. straight dope, ive checked his mpg myself...
![]() excursions get 9 or 10 mpg if they run on gas also, the truck that holds the landspeed record for pickups gets 23.6mpg

Ride a bicycle whenever possible. Both problems solved.
