It's easier for everyone to work through our studio than spend thousands on their own gear. Most of this stuff was just collected naturally over time. |

To a certain extent, it's not what you've got but how you use it. Learn your favorite synth (hardware or software).
Most of my production is done using stock Logic 9's plug-ins. The ES2 is an amazing softsynth that can provide you with diverse sounds and incredible programming options. I also use the ESP. That said, layering is the key to getting fat and/or huge sounds. Also, take the time to learn how to bus different time-based effects. This will help your mixes tremendously. Don't be afraid to use Stereo Imaging; it will add a great deal of depth to your sound, especially when combined with layering. I have a Yamaha S90ES which I use for its amazing piano samples and a Gibson Les Paul Studio running through a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier head. I occasionally use Logic's Amp Designer or Guitar Amp Pro to give me a tone I can't achieve with my hardware. I can't post links until 15 posts so I'll add pictures later ![]() Google Nando - Third Person to check out my latest release being featured on Roger Shah's Magic Island vol. 3 Cheers! -nando Oh and I use a tambourine, too ![]() Last edited by PhineasFreak : Jun 8th, 2010 at 02:18 AM. |

It's been a while since i updated this - and in that time i have changed my tune and decided that Hardwrae is the way to go as far as live performance, and since i want to be able to do that i have started building a hardware/live PA setup. i now have in my possesion:
- Quasimidi 309 [for synthetic analogesque drums - 808/909 style, and basslines, acidlines and leads] - Access Virus Ti Polar [main workhorse for most synth sounds, also some sound processing and FX and main keyboard] - Roland sp808ex [sampler with very large capacity to provide drumloops and other sample playback] - Yamaha Rm1x ['sequence remixer' - basically a sequencer to store the programs, control surface to do the live midi controlling and also some rompler synth/drum provision too] - Alesis MultiMix 16 FXD [mixer to run all the different gear through - and to provide some other FX] i still need a compressor to run the whole lot through and a delay unit to plug in to the external FX send loop, as well as some stands to mount all the gear on. hopefully i should be able to afford to pick up those other items soon. in the mean time i'm busy loading sets of samples onto zip disks for the sampler, putting midi loops onto old 3.5" floppies for the sequencer and converting all my unes that i want to play live so that they dont rely on any softsynths or plugins. i still use software quite happily for tunes i dont intend to perform live...
