It seems that I have alot of time in my dorm, and I've played F-Zero X to death. I would love to tackle a good RPG, but I don't have a PSX or a PS2 or a whatever. I have an N64. And I don't *recall* a huge RPG coming out for the N64. Am I having a brain fart? Or am I gonna have to settle for the best of a poor crop?
BTW F-Zero X really is the best futuristic racer ever, if you are looking for a sweet racing game. But I've never played the Gamecube version of F-Zero or Extreme-G, so I can't so for those. I'll bet they rock though. |

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is THE best RPG on N64, if not one of the best in the series.
That or the Resident Evils...although they were 10x better on PS.

Ok well I've played Ocaraina of Time.
What I'm looking for is like...basically I just want a FFVII format game. I just LOVE that. Having a party, having to one day make the decision of who to stop using. Getting all those great items. Able to kill a few hours out just getting into random encounters. Good story. Very acceptable graphics. Gawd, I love it. Something like that. Less action that a Zelda series. |

N64 was very poor in the RPG department. Not very many released at all. The only RPG I can think of right now that comes even remotely close to FF on N64 is Quest 64 and that game wasn't very good. No rpg's on N64 even came close to what the Final Fantasy series is like. If you want an rpg like those, my only suggestion is to try another system.
Otherwise, good luck in finding something ![]()

Guys guys guys... you are missing one of the best strategy rpgs of all time EVER on any console Ogre Battle 64... there is like a few hundred different possibly endings.
Though good luck finding it. Bought mine off of ebay years ago for like $60, but it definitely worth it just for the replay value.

My suggestion to you would either get a SuperNES or PS off ebay, and play FF3 (6 in Japan) and FF7.
BEST RPG'S EVER!!!!! Chronotrigger and Xenogears were really good too...

I had Ogre Battle on the Snes, cool game!
Snes Favorite: Secret Of Mana. For the best RPG's buy a PSX/ PSX2 with the Suikoden and the FF series. Talking about FF, i still think FF7 was the best, FFX was cool as well. Suikoden 1 and 2 All Time Favorite!!! |

but part form that, there isn't much at all on the 64. you should get a PC or another console if you want to play more decent rpgs. SNES also had super mario rpg, which was a good game for its time. |

SNES, how do u forget FF3 and the Zelda game for that. Those were the best rpgs ever for that system, for that time if you wanna brag. Those 2 games were the reason I got a SNES, FF3 with those commercials about Mog blasting bad guys was great.
ZAPPP "Next" Such why did the N64 have to stink so much. It made loyal Nintendo fans run for the hills to Playstation for good games. Hopefully they will make a comeback

you stated that you spent a lot of time in your dorm, which
automatically makes me think your a poor college kid (cuz that's what i am). but even the poorest of college kids can afford a ps1...you can get them for sooo cheap and most of the time from ebay you will get plenty of rpgs to go along with it. any of the final fantasy's are obviously good (7 is my favorite). also wild arms kicks ass. sorry i know u wanted good n64 rpgs but i think u should go for the ps!! |

N64 Didn't have many "Final Fantasy Type" RPG's. Other than Orge Battle. Mario RPG has the same style, but it didn't feel right (It's fricken mario!). Better of with the Playstation 1, It had tons of RPG's with the same battle system as Final Fantasy. Pick up a PSX for 20bucks and get Final Fantasy VII-IX, should keep you busy for months.
