Hello.
So I want to start dj'ing, I like Drum'n'Bass. So for starters, one of my friends are dj'ing for like 7 years, and he recomended me to look for Pioneer/Vestax/Technics mixers. But I don't realy get wich 1, what do I need more. Im into music mixing, or maby into creating some music, as I said i realy like Drum'N'Bass and Breaks, so what should I buy/have? I Have headphones wich are gr8 Technics RP-F800.Sorry but I have used searcher and found that people suggest T Technics SL-1200 (mkII or md3) and some of Numax. I don't realy know, turntables or cd mixers? My friend says cd mixers are better, but he uses Turntables because he plays something like ambient/techno/chillout. I've red that I need to know what is my music style so here we go: Breaks: Stanton Warriors, Sway ( I love Stanton Warriors Live @ Fabric Oct 20th mix) Drum'N'Bass: Ahh, Counterstrike, Noisia, Dillinja, Some of pendulum, Black sun empire, Calyx, Corrupt Souls. And my D'n'B co-style is DarkStep/Jungle, so I love thoose bad ass bass synth's and loops :X (for example, Corrupt Souls - Trioxin 245, Black Sun Empire - Arrakis, Noisia - Carbon Shock, Dillinja - No future, Dillinja - Fast Car.) If you're spinning DnB... I'd suggest getting Techs rather than CDJ's.
Lot's of DnB/Jungle releases are still printed on vinyl. It's one of the few genres that I still buy vinyl from. The DnB culture, in terms of DJ'ing, is predominately vinyl so if that's what you wanna spin, get Technics 1200's. There are still mp3's/promos that are DnB but there's a lot of good stuff on vinyl. As for a mixer... I wouldn't be too picky. Get something decent but you don't need like a DJM-800 or something. For mixers, I'd check out Allen & Heath, Rane, Pioneer, or Ecler. I suppose Vestax could fit in there. It all depends what you're price range it. Rane makes super slick mixers though, especially if you're gonna be scratching, the faders are sick.
