i always thought it was from the CD or Vinyl and not the speakers. The only time i can think of speakers popping and cracking would be when you play them too loud and too mess them up by playing too loud. I know that causes them to pop and crackle, but for my most part is the CD's or Vinyl that cause the noise.

I assume you don't let the volume meter go into the red..? You say it happens when you slow down a cd. Have you tried using a different cd player plugged in to the mixer? Have you tried other speakers? Many different cds?

It's more or less a known fact that using a Behringer mixer sooner or later leads to trouble, however I don't want to be one of those ignorant people throwing it to your face... But you should still keep that in mind with Behringer..

Pk4rney, does it sound like distortion? Or like record static? If it's distortion and you aren't going into the red (which is actually acceptable depending on how you set your levels), it's prolly your master out is set too high. Lower this and see what happens. If you take the output from the mixer and put it straight in the CD recorder are you at -6 to 0 or is it clipping alot?

If you want you can record a couple of tracks this happens too, upload them somewhere and I'll check the levels for you/if it's distortion... PM me anytime.

If it sounds like record static, I have no idea what to say. Unless the tracks are recorded from record in the first place (sometimes happens).

its more like record static but the tunes i use are from compilation cds not recorded from records etc. my master output is at 7 so its not high. what do you mean by "are you at -6 to 0 or is it clipping alot? " thanks
