Hi
I'm toying with the idea of hosting a live feed from a webcam on my website, but all my knowledge so far is self-taught. This project seems a little daunting, I'm just wondering if its as hard as I think it is? Can anyone recommend a good reference resource for doing this? Or any bits of software/hardware I'll need? Thanks in advance! http://www.littlestickcards.co.uk/ Last edited by Ghoste2019 : May 18th, 2006 at 07:59 AM. |

Sorry to dig up an old post. But, if you are still interested there are easy ways of doing this without having to install anything or setup a server. If we want more help just let me know. I don't want to recommend anything without know exactly what you are looking for.

It depends on what you are looking to do. It seems the two leading free live webcam services right now are Stickam.com and Ustream.tv. Both allow you to embed the video stream outside of their sites so either may work for you. I don't believe either support multiple simultaneous cams on one account right now so you will probably have to register multiple accounts, one for each cam.
Both services use Flash and are free. No installs are needed for either the broadcaster or the viewers. Post more details if you'd like more detailed info. |

Hi,
I Just created my website jusjerk.com and I also was wondering how I could host a web cam show on my site with a chat room for the viewers, so that all the viewers come to my site. Can I do that with a third party service? I also saw this website: justin.tv This is something similar to what I want to have on my website. |

You dont even need a server. Get something like Axis 207 (google it), it has a mini server build into it and is very high quality for a webcam. This is what we use to monitor our newborn.
