I dont know where some of you are getting your facts, but there wasnt 3000 people, it was 1000-1200. The police had planned this for weeks. The Utah National Guard was a part of it. National Guard=military. Unfortunately i live right in the middle of it.

my point wasn't really about the drug deaths specifically anyways, just that these deaths help to shake up the "grown ups " fears of what the youth of today are getting involved in, and that fear leads to presumption, misinformation and propaganda, which is what fueled such a method used for shutting down a rave (aka, happy peacefull nobodies packing a pistol kinda place) I was upset by the posts people were placing about **** the police and screw the us military, take a look at the whole the misrepresentation of the scene as the those who disagree with it get behind mics and call it violent sex and drug parties, based off of isolated instances, I doubt half the forces used to shut that rave down had ever been to one and were told they were being sent to dispers a Large crowd were there was said to be alot of drugs, dealers and god knows what else those crazy kids have in those oversized pants they wear....damn it i'm late for work again gotta jet love the discussion this rave shut down has caused, we need to stop giving the media any negativity to use against the scen later, I agree with someones earlier statement about the jam band scene, no assault rifles ever coming walking through a dead show ,words been spread there all just peacefull pipers and music lovers coming to have a good time, spread the right vibe,

if national guard we're involved... well.. you can say good bye to our freedom because military are NOT allowed to be deployed on national soil(sp.. my spelling is bleh today... >.>) unless its yes, the national guard, but even then, ONLY in a State of Emergency.

You guys need to use some comon sence. These guys clearly didn't have the required permit and are now trying to cover it up. The idea that the police would go to all the trouble of altering records and creating a conspiracy to shut down a party filled with college kids is absurd. Trust me the police have better things to do. Even if the land owner had a permit, the police can still arrest people for possession.

Truthfully though I have to side with the "drugs are bad" people in this thread. I think x and pot are just a way to show that your a rebel and cool. Though I could care less if ou all want to get high in the middle of noware, but remember that the law is the law and it goes for everyone - it doesn't exempt ravers.

I love my country, I love the land and I love the people, and I love raving. I love democracy! I honestly think that ghozt is right thought about the need for research to continue unhindered by foolish fear! The psychological implications and safe applications are yet unexplored properly and safely!

Obviously the permits issue is sketchy. It doesn't matter. The whole point of this is that such excessive force was unnecesary: tear gas, assault rifles, canine attacks, police brutality etc.

From the press release:
Quote:
Parents need to be aware of the type of illegal activities that occurs at these type of gathering. Sexual assaults, rapes, overdoses, drugs, alcohol abuse, thefts, and firearms violations.
Yes! Parents please read this! Do not let your sons/daughters attend raves. Obviously you have been living in a cave if you do. Everyone knows that people only go to raves to get sexually assaulted and raped, overdose and do drugs etc. at these type(s) of gathering(s).

The reason for that "excessive force" is because the police treated this as some sort of riot, in case things got out of hand during the raid. There were thousands of people and a handful of police, and they had to use everything neccesary to control the crowd. I do not know about the police brutality, but what happened if that person punched the police officer. What would you do if your a police officer trying to subdue someone thats trying to fight you, you have to take them out.
